This day-and-a-half retreat will feature national speaker Michael Brandwein, who will discuss leadership, leadership styles and essential leadership skills. The Class of 2012 also will be given more details about the upcoming program year. (Food, lodging included in Academy participation fee.)
NH Business/Leadership Development

Designed to inspire, educate, and motivate, the Business and Leadership Development module will teach business networking skills and feature life lessons from accomplished leaders in business and the community.
NH Judicial Branch

Participants will hear directly from Judicial Branch leadership about issues facing the courts and the role of the court system in the 21st century.
Non-Profit Management

A distinguished panel of nonprofit leaders will explore legal and ethical responsibilities as well as the practicalities of nonprofit organizations, including a review of NH statutes governing non-profits and applicable federal statutes.
Executive/Legislative Branches

This module will focus on the workings of the executive and legislative branches of the state government, discussing roles, tensions, challenges and complexities involved in governmental operations. Advice on how to advocate positions in the legislature also will be covered.
NHBA Midyear Meeting - 2012

Media Relations and Public Speaking

Media Relations and Public Speaking will provide an opportunity for participants to hear lawyers’ and journalists’ perspectives on relationships between lawyers and the press. Also covered will be best practices for dealing with high-profile civil and criminal cases and for gaining media attention for your “issue” or “cause.”
Future of the Practice of Law/Access to Justice

Future of Law: Panelists and participants will discuss the future of the practice of law, the trends in the business of law, the practice areas that will grow, and how technology will change lawyer interaction with the courts and clients.
Access to Justice: This portion of the module will identify and explore issues surrounding access to justice for all clients, with an emphasis on the special needs of low and moderate-income clients.
NHBA Annual Meeting

The NHBA Leadership Academy caps the program year with a relaxing weekend in the White Mountains. Participants will discuss plans for the Class of 2013 and will take part in a “culminating experience.” (Lodging and other fees for one overnight included in Academy Participation Fee)
