WAYNE C. BEYER of North Conway was recently named an administrative appeals judge for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Beyer was appointed by Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao.

As a member of the Administrative Review Board (ARB), Beyer considers appeals from the decisions of administrative law judges throughout the nation on whistleblower and wage and hour issues involving the employees of government contractors.

Beyer's previous federal service includes serving on the staffs of a number of U.S. representatives and as chief of staff of the U.S. General Services Administration, and later as its principal deputy general counsel.

Immediately prior to his term appointment to the ARB, Beyer was senior litigation counsel for the D.C. office of the Corporation Counsel, where he defended civil cases alleging constitutional violations and other misconduct by members of the Washington, D.C. Police Department. He has authored a number of articles and taught at national programs on federal civil rights.

A member of the New Hampshire and District of Columbia Bars, Beyer was previously an associate at McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton in Manchester and a director and shareholder of Cleveland, Waters & Bass in Concord.

Beyer holds degrees from Dartmouth College and Harvard University and received his J.D. From Georgetown University Law Center. He was admitted to the NH Bar in 1978.
