Federal Appeals Court Online With Expanded Web Site
THE 1st U.S. CIRCUIT Court of Appeals has expanded and revamped its external Web site to provide enhanced features, improved access and overall ease of use for the public in general and attorneys in particular, Circuit Executive Gary Wente announced recently. The address is www.ca1.uscourts.gov.
The revised Web site is organized by subject matter, including "Judges," "Clerk's Office," "Dockets," "Opinions," "Rules & Procedures" and "Forms & Notices." Also readily available are sections on the Court of Appeals' settlement program, the court calendar and filing instructions.
Court-related news from the five judicial districts of the circuit (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Puerto Rico and Rhode Island) can be found in a section titled "General Information for Public and Media."
Wente noted that the design of the Web site is unchanged from the clean, spare look of the original, intended to offer a readable guide to the site's contents, free of distractions.
"We are proud to introduce this improved Web site to those segments of the public eager for information about the court," Wente said. He acknowledged the leadership of project manager Margaret Carter, of the Office of Staff Attorneys, and the efforts of Jim Patane and Jim DeHart, director and systems manager, respectively, of the court's information technology department, in bringing about the improvements.
