NH Bankruptcy Court Marks 1st Anniversary of Electronic Case Filing

100 Attorneys Are Regular Users
THE UNITED STATES Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire marked the one-year anniversary of its electronic case-filing program (ECF) on April 1, 2003. During the year that the court has accepted electronically filed documents, we have trained over 150 attorneys and 100 support staff members to use the system, and nearly 100 attorneys now use the system to file all materials with the court. The materials filed in this way make up nearly 50 percent of all the court’s business.
Training in the use of the program is offered on an ongoing basis to all interested attorneys and their secretaries, paralegals or other support staff. This effort continues to go very smoothly and has resulted in the excellent participation we have received to date.
We continue to encourage all attorneys to adopt the program and use ECF to file materials with the court. The United States District Court is also now in the process of implementing the program as its case management system. It seems clear that in the future, practice in the federal courts in New Hampshire will be conducted largely by electronic means, rather than by paper.
If you are interested in learning more about ECF, call the court at (603) 222-2600 or visit us online at www.nhb.uscourts.gov.
