Coos County Bar Holds Court Staff Appreciation Night
ON THURSDAY, April 24, 2003, approximately 40 people attended a special evening to recognize the court staffs of Coos County, including those of Coos Superior and Probate courts, the district courts of Coos County communities, as well as the Coos County Registry of Deeds.
The idea for this evening was sparked by NH Superior Court Chief Justice Walter Murphy, who at a recent Coos County Bar meeting commented that despite the budget crisis in the court system, court staff members do a yeoman’s job of providing vital legal services to the community, and that we should recognize this admirable work.
"Coos County is privileged to have dedicated and committed court staffs who work very hard, despite budgetary difficulties, to deliver critical services to members of the public who use the courts and Registry of Deeds," said attorney Clare Hinkley, president of the Coos County Bar, at the staff appreciation night.
The event was fully supported by the judiciary. In addition to Chief Justice Murphy, three other superior court judges were in attendance: Peter W. Smith, Harold W. Perkins and Steven M. Houran. Judges Murphy and Perkins both presided at jury trials at Belknap County Superior Court earlier that day, but traveled to Lancaster despite the weather to support this event. District Court Judges Paul Desjardins and Wallace Anctil were also in attendance, as were numerous attorneys from throughout the county.
