MARTHA VAN OOT, a Hopkinton attorney and NHBA vice president, has been nominated president-elect by the Board of Governors. The president-elect serves a one-year term before assuming the Bar presidency.

Van Oot practiced trial law for 20 years in New Hampshire before leaving private practice to become an adjunct faculty member at Vermont Law School, where she has taught for the last two years.

The deadline for nominations by petition for vacant positions on the NHBA Board of Governors was Feb. 15, as Bar News went to press. A complete roundup of candidates, including biographical information and candidate statements, will appear on the Bar's Web site after the petition deadline and in the March 9 issue of Bar News.

Ballots for the Board of Governors election will be mailed to all voting members of the NHBA on March 15 and must be returned to the Bar for tabulation by the end of the day on April 15.

In addition to vice president, secretary and treasurer (all one year terms), candidates will be selected for two governor-at-large positions (three-year terms) and as county governors to represent Cheshire, Coos, Grafton, Merrimack and Rockingham counties for two-year terms.
