Driving in the Rain
Pro Bono golfers brave wet conditions for a good cause.
A REAL GOLFER won’t let a little rain chase him or her off the course – and the 100 golfers who played in the 10th annual Quid Pro Bono Golf Tournament at Lake Sunapee Country Club June 5 proved that. The intrepid golfers braved rainy, raw conditions to participate in the Pro Bono Referral Program’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Although final numbers were not in at press time, Legal Services Director Ginny Martin estimated that net proceeds from tournament sponsorships, raffles and entrants’ fees would pull in about $16,000 for Pro Bono.
The foursome of Randall Cooper, Jay Clough, Richard Uchida and Marvin Armstrong took first place with the day’s lowest score of 61 in the best-ball, scramble format tournament.
The foursome of William Donovan, Dean Kenney, Steve Samaha and Jay Driscoll took second place with a score of 63 after a hard-fought playoff against the team of Arthur Bean, Robert Meilcarz, Ray Roberts and Stan Lencki, which also carded a 63. It took 9 playoff holes to break the tie between the two teams.
