NH Magazine Searches for 'Ideal Attorney'
THIS YEAR, New Hampshire Magazine is conducting a Web-based survey of New Hampshire attorneys to assist in naming some of the state's "Ideal Attorneys."
The Bar included in a recent e-bulletin a link to the magazine's Web site for the short questionnaire, which seeks opinions on whom lawyers would look to for advice, counsel and wisdom in general areas of law rather than for a single specialty. The survey, unlike other published polls purporting to name the "best" lawyers in certain categories, is canvassing a broader sample of attorneys for response, and offers selections that go beyond the garden-variety practice areas. In addition, there are whimsical questions, such as: "Who is the attorney most like Atticus Finch?" And "What is the most memorable NH case that should be retried?"
According to New Hampshire Magazine Editor Rick Broussard, "We're seeking lawyers to represent a different kind of ideal, those who have made public service a guiding light, who choose to practice outside the centers of power and commerce, or who have chosen to serve the disadvantaged who live in every community."
The poll form with the complete list of categories is available online at http://bestofnh.com/lawyers. The results of the poll will be featured in the October issue of the magazine. The response deadline is on or about Aug. 20.
Although the Bar Association is collaborating with the magazine by publicizing the survey in the interest of publicizing exemplars of the profession, it has no role in the ultimate selections of the attorneys profiled by the magazine.
