An Overseas Public Service Opportunity
THE FOLLOWING IS an announcement from the ABA's rule of law initiative in central Europe:
VISITING HUMAN RIGHTS LAW PROFESSOR - Tashkent, Uzbekistan (3-4 months, January 2004)
Teach international human rights law, regional human rights law and enforcement to the students at Tashkent State Law Institute during the Spring Semester of 2004.
Conduct bi-weekly seminars for ABA/CEELI's Human Rights Clinic. Advise Clinic students and management throughout the semester on the following issues: international human rights; domestic implementation of international standards, regional courts, and systems of protection of rights (e.g. EU, OAS); and issues that arise under CEDAW and ICCPR.
CEELI considers attorneys for long-term positions with a minimum of five years of legal experience, bar membership, a high level of energy and initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated legal expertise in the substantive area of the position. International experience and foreign language skills are preferred, but not required. All participating for over two months receive a generous support package that covers travel, housing, general living and business expenses. In-country foreign language training, medical evacuation insurance and reimbursement for medical insurance premiums are also included.
