What is your pet peeve about practicing law? I don't have any complaints - it's a great career.
What was the best summer job you ever had? Taking care of four great kids in the Adirondacks when I was in high school. Job requirements included climbing mountains in the mornings, swimming in the afternoons, and watching bears at the dump at night.
What was the best advice your mother ever gave you? "Tell the truth."
What would you be doing if you weren't a lawyer? Teaching English literature.
What do you do when you're not being a lawyer? Read, hike, ski, hang out with my family and friends, try to finish The Sunday NY Times crossword puzzle.
Why do you participate in Bar affairs? I think that it is important for lawyers to give back to the profession and to the community in which they practice. My involvement with the Bar has helped me make that contribution.
Favorite magazine? The Sunday New York Times magazine.
Book? The one I am currently reading.
Movie? "To Kill A Mockingbird."
Meal? A lobster roll and potato chips on a summer afternoon near the water.

Sullivan County Governor |
Firm/Organization: Leahy & Denault, Claremont.
Past/Present Bar Activities: I've been active in the Bar since I became a member in 2000.
Major challenges facing the Bar: Deunification and admission-by-motion are two things I feel pose threats to the integrity of the Bar.
Favorite spot in NH: Anywhere on the ocean.
What is your pet peeve about practicing law? I have no pet peeves because I have been fortunate to work in smaller communities where lawyers have a lot of respect for each other.
What is the best summer job you ever had? Tutoring special needs kids during law school.
What was the best advice your mother ever gave you? "Be your own person."
What would you be doing if you weren't a lawyer? I have always worked in public service and could see myself working in public service in some sphere.
What do you do when you're not being a lawyer? I enjoy spending time with my kids, being outside, running and reading.
Why do you participate in Bar affairs? I entered the profession later in life and thought it a good way to get to know people. Also, I feel that because I got into law when I was older, I found myself doing things to make a difference, not necessarily to make money.
