What was the best advice your mother ever gave you? "Look at the big picture."
What would you be doing if you weren't a lawyer? Taking trips with my family and writing novels.
What do you do when you're not being a lawyer? I'm a husband and a father of three. I'm also writing a novel.
Why do you participate in Bar affairs? If we do not all become involved in some way to improve our profession, then we are not a profession.
Favorite magazine? The Economist.
Book? "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson.
Movie? "Apollo 13."
Meal? Afghan cuisine.
Tell us one interesting thing about yourself. As I describe law to clients, day in and day out, I like to think about the reasons behind the law in question, to look for the actual public policy that was the reason why the law was adopted.

Firm/Organization: Burns, Bryant, Hinchey, Cox & Rockefeller, PA, Dover.
Practice area: Criminal defense, plaintiff personal injury, general practice.

What was the best summer job you ever had? I was a page on the floor of the U.S. Senate during the summer between my sophomore and junior years of high school.
What was the best advice your mother ever gave you? "You catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar."
What would you be doing if you weren't a lawyer? I would be a riverboat captain on the Mississippi River.
What do you do when you're not being a lawyer? I spend time with my family, fish in the summer and ski in the winter.
Why do you participate in Bar affairs? I feel strongly that the Bar plays an important role for lawyers and citizens in the state and I wanted to give some of my time to help those efforts.
Favorite book? "To Kill a Mockingbird."
Meal? Thai food.
Tell us one interesting thing about yourself. Three weeks into my freshman year at Holy Cross, I was struck by an automobile. I brought a civil case against the driver and "reinvested" the recovery in my law school tuition.
