SCORE Seeks Small-Business Law Attorneys for Referrals
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives), a volunteer organization sponsored by the federal Small Business Administration, is seeking attorneys to serve on referral registries of lawyers interested in assisting small-business owners.
Individual chapters of SCORE maintain individual referral registries:
The Northeastern Massachusetts Chapter 411 of SCORE provides counseling at no charge to more than 1,000 new and established business people in parts of New Hampshire as well as northeastern Massachusetts. To be listed in the registry - made available to SCORE advisees, promoted in its workshops, and posted on the Web at www.scorenemass.org - attorneys must agree to offer a preliminary interview at no cost to the client, set up a fee schedule with the client, and pay a $35 annual registration fee to SCORE. The deadline for entries to the registry is Oct. 15, 2003. To obtain a listing form, contact SCORE at 978-922-9441.
SCORE Chapter 199, based in Manchester, provides service to southern New Hampshire. It charges $40 to be listed in its Registry of Professional Services 2004/2005 edition. Attorneys may list up to three areas of special expertise. The listing is good for 24 months and is shared with small business clients at workshops and individual counseling sessions. The initial consultation with a SCORE client must be at no charge. Contact the Merrimack Valley Chapter 199 at (603) 666-7561 or at score199@juno.com, or visit www.score-manchester.org for an application form.
