Federal Court to 'Open Doors' to Students
THE U.S. DISTRICT Court-District of NH will host its third annual outreach program "Open Doors to Federal Courts: Working for Justice" on Thurs., Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The program, which will be held at the Warren B. Rudman U.S. Courthouse in Concord, is part of a national initiative supported by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to provide civic education to high school students and to support national social studies standards.
The program will feature welcoming remarks by Chief Judge Paul Barbadoro; a mock trial; a career fair during which students can learn about jobs in the justice system; a presentation on prosecution and evidence; and a student essay contest. Three high school seniors will each be awarded a $200 scholarship for their winning essays. The day's events will be presided over by Judge Steven McAuliffe.
About 70 students from Concord High School, Bow High School and Winnisquam Regional High School will participate in the program this year.
