1st Circuit Judges Talk Federal Practice
1ST CIRCUIT U.S. Court of Appeals Judges Jeffrey Howard and Norman Stahl were the featured speakers at a joint meeting of the NHBA's Federal Practice Section, Labor & Employment Law Section and Committee on Cooperation with the Courts held Oct. 15 at the Warren B. Rudman U.S. Courthouse.
Judges Stahl and Howard shared their views from the appellate bench on federal practice and effective appellate advocacy, as well as reviewing recent significant cases. They also answered questions from attendees on a variety of issues, from their thoughts on the key components of an effective oral argument to how to get younger attorneys in the firm involved in appellate advocacy.
The Federal Practice Section is also considering holding a meeting this winter to discuss the development of the federal court's electronic filing system. See future issues of Bar News or contact Section Chair David Slawsky at dslawsky@upton-hatfield.com for updates.
