National Kudos to Bar's Web Site

THE NH BAR Association's Web site was honored last month when the National Association of Bar Executives Communications Section presented a "Luminary Award" for best Web site in the medium-sized bar category (bars of 5,000 members or more) to the New Hampshire Bar Association.

Communications Director Dan Wise said that while the content of the Web site reflects the high quality and diverse array of services the Bar offers, much of the applause for the award should be directed to Web Site Coordinator Lynette Gorman, who began working for the Bar in 1999. "There's a lot of thoughtful attention, creative problem-solving and just plain determination that goes into keeping the Web site fresh and functional day in and day out, not to mention keeping up with changing technology and evolving member needs," Wise said. "I am pleased that Lynette's hard work is being recognized. The award is also a tribute to the entire Bar and the support of our membership and leaders."

NHBA President Russell Hilliard said the Web site recognition demonstrates that Bar members are getting top value for their dues. "This is another example of the high-quality service provided by the NH Bar to its members, and the Bar staff involved with the site deserve our appreciation and thanks."

"The Web site has grown by leaps and bounds since I began working here," said Gorman. "We provide extensive content in various formats as well as pertinent links, news and information to our ever growing audience. Through the years, members' suggestions and ideas have greatly assisted us in developing our site into the great success it is today. If you have thoughts or ideas on improvements you'd like to see, please e-mail them to us at NHBAinfo@nhbar.org."

Wise added: "A tip of the cap also must go to Lee Jones (administrator of the NHMCLE program), who helped with the original architecture of our Web site, which has proven to be a durable, workable design over the years."

Judges for the competition, sponsored by West, the legal publishing company, complimented the site's functional design and its wealth of resources. "I found the site simple and easy to use. Pages were fast to load and there were lots of good resources. I think this serves members well," one judge commented. Web site and communications executives for other bar associations conducted the judging. The Massachusetts Bar Association took top honors for its Web site in the large bar category, and the Toledo Bar Association was the winner in the small bar category.

The New Hampshire Bar Association last won a Luminary Award in 1998 for New Hampshire Bar News.
