Complex Searches for Opinions Available Online
MANY ATTORNEYS DO not know that they can perform complex searches for published and unpublished opinions on the federal court's Web site at www.nhd.uscourts.gov. Simply select "Opinions/Orders" on the left navigation bar, click on "Help Index," and under "References for Building Queries," click on "Compound Queries." This section of the Web site explains how to construct compound queries. In the next series of modifications to our Web site, we will highlight this information in order to make it more noticeable for infrequent users. Additionally, you should be aware that the "Published Opinions" section of the "Opinions/Orders" page outlines how to identify opinions that have been designated for publication. Finally, if you would like to receive court opinions at your own personal e-mail address, select the "Subscribe" option on the left navigation bar, pick "Modify" or "Register" (whichever the case may be), and select "Civil Opinions," "Criminal Opinions," or "Published Opinions" (or select all three).
