Enter Ted Jordan Memorial Race
March 13 Ski Challenge
THE NEW ENGLAND Handicapped Sports Association (NEHSA), a non-profit volunteer organization whose goal is to integrate disabled individuals back into society through social and recreational activities, will host its 18th annual Corporate Ski and Board Challenge on March 13, 2004. NH Bar members have made a good showing in this event in years past, and the NEHSA is again encouraging attorneys to either sponsor or form their own teams for this year’s event.
The Corporate Ski Challenge pits four-person teams, sponsored by local corporations and organizations, against each other in friendly competition to raise money for a good cause. Racers compete on two dual-course giant slalom runs at Mt. Sunapee, New Hampshire. A trophy will be presented to the winning team; individual trophies will be given in various categories.
This year, NEHSA will once again sponsor the Ted Jordan Memorial Race, named for Nashua attorney Ted Jordan of Jordan, Maynard and Parodi, who passed away last year. Jordan, Maynard & Parodi and the Manchester firm Abramson, Brown & Dugan will sponsor trophies in memory of Jordan, to be presented to the top team in the Legal Division. To qualify for the Legal Division, a team must be sponsored by a lawyer, law firm, judge or court and at least one member of the team must be from the sponsoring entity. In years past, teams of lawyers, law firms, district court judges and superior court judges have competed in this event.
The entry fee for the race is $275 per team, which includes four lift tickets for the day at Mt. Sunapee, lunch and a grab bag of gifts. For more information or to enter your team, call the NEHSA at 1-800-628-4484, visit its Web site at www.nehsa.org, or e-mail Jeanne and David Finley at jpfinely@comcast.net.
After the Corporate Ski Challenge, a charity auction will be held at which ski equipment, lodging, airline tickets, sporting goods and other items will be for sale.
The NEHSA has been in existence for 30 years and has been based at Mt. Sunapee for the past 28. One of the main programs of the NEHSA is its ski school, at which thousands of individuals with disabilities have been taught to ski. In 2001, the association provided over 857 lessons to individuals with disabilities (mostly children) who live in the greater New England area. NEHSA also offers summer activities, such as water skiing, canoeing, sailing, hiking and more.
