Latest 'Spirit' Winners Named
Diane Roberge

DIANE ROBERGE, the supervisor of the civil division at Hillsborough Superior Court Southern District, and Gloria M. Gidari, the assistant clerk in the district courts of Hillsborough, Henniker and New London, were named the latest recipients of the Spirit of the Judiciary Award presented by NH Supreme Court Chief Justice David A. Brock.

The Spirit of the Judiciary program was established in 1999 by Chief Justice Brock to recognize judicial branch employees for their dedication to the court system and its mission to provide fair and efficient court services for the citizens of New Hampshire.

Roberge, who joined the court system in 1988, was described by her colleagues as a highly organized individual who runs the civil division like "clockwork." She also supervises computer orientation and training for all new employees.

"There is not a function in the clerk’s office that Diane cannot or has not performed," Clerk Marshall A. Buttrick said in nominating Roberge for the award. "She is part of the backbone of the office and without employees such as Diane, we would not be able to provide the present level and quality of service to the public," he said.

In brief remarks after accepting the award, Roberge said that she is grateful to everyone in the courthouse for their support in getting the job done everyday. "Working here at Hills South is a team effort," she said.

Gloria Gidari

Gidari, who came to the court system in 1999 after working as a legal secretary in private law firms, was cited for her dedication to the administration of justice and for her caring and compassionate manner with citizens who come to the courts.

Gidari’s main responsibility in Hillsborough District Court is handling juvenile matters. Judge Douglas S. Hatfield of Hillsborough, in nominating Gidari for the Spirit of the Judiciary Award, noted that she takes a personal interest in these cases and can be counted on to "go the extra mile" for the lawyers, police officers and probation and parole officers who are involved in providing services to these children and families.

"As a sitting judge, I could not ask for a more dedicated, knowledgeable and comfortable person to work with in handling the day-to-day responsibilities of the district court," Judge Hatfield told the nominating committee.

In accepting the award, Gidari thanked the judges and staff she works with and said she values the "unique opportunity" to work in three different court locations each week.

"I enjoy the diversity of people I interact with, including police officers, juvenile officers, court security officers, attorneys, plaintiffs, defendants, juveniles and the general public," she said.

The Spirit of the Judiciary Award is presented on a regional basis six times a year based on nominations submitted by fellow employees, lawyers or court constituents. The recipients are chosen by a committee representing each level of the court system and the Administrative Office of the Courts.
