Six Attorneys Lauded in Union Leader "Forty Under Forty" Feauture
SIX MEMBERS OF the New Hampshire Bar Association were recently spotlighted in the Union Leader’s "40 Under Forty" annual special section recognizing up-and-coming leaders in the state, age 40 or younger.
Ron Abramson is a partner at Abramson, Balinson & O’Leary, P.C., in Manchester, and a former public defender. Born in Santiago, Chile, Abramson is fluent in Spanish and will be returning to Santiago in August on a Fulbright Scholarship to teach trial advocacy. Abramson is also an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center. He is married to Christina Abramson, former Bar Foundation Director. They have three children.
Will Delker is chief of the Criminal Justice Bureau of the N.H. Attorney General’s office. Delker left a practice in Boston to come to New Hampshire to work for Supreme Court Justice Sherman Horton. He soon knew that prosecutorial work was what he wanted to do and his 12-hour-day schedule does not deter him from pursuing it. "It’s something I really feel right about doing," he says in the article.
Scott Ellison , an attorney in the business and tax planning department of Devine, Millimet & Branch, P.A., describes himself as a "political junkie." He has worked on many political campaigns. His current interest, though, is helping his clients succeed in their business endeavors. He believes that the Granite State’s biggest challenge is striking a balance between development and the preservation of its natural beauty.
James F. Merrill is also with Devine, Millimet & Branch. He began his career as an unpaid intern in the governor’s office. Now he works with one of the state’s top law firms and is corporate counsel to the New Hampshire Republican Party. Merrill says that he appreciates the closeness of the government to the people of New Hampshire. People know their senators and representatives, he points out in the article. "We are so fortunate…."
Robert Miller , an attorney with Sheehan, Phinney, Bass + Green, is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was senior editor of the Law Review. As a result of his experiences in law school, Miller wrote, Law School Confidential, a survival guide. He is following this work with guides in a similar format for other professional schools and is currently an alumni interviewer for Yale.
Daniel Norris , a director and partner with McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, P.A., says his most admired person is Franklin D. Roosevelt, for his courage, patriotism and his ability to overcome obstacles. Active in charitable work, Norris follows the example of a generous grandfather and is currently co-chairing the major gifts campaign for a $3.5 million reconstruction of the Salem Boys’ and Girls’ Club.
