Further Ado - A Guide to Proper Protocol
Reviewed by Beverly Rorick
THE HONORABLE Donna Sytek, former Speaker of New Hampshire’s House of Representatives, has written a very useful and interesting little book called, Further Ado: Practical Protocol for New Hampshire, a Non-Partisan Guide to Political Etiquette.
In the book, she lists and discusses correct titles and forms of address for present and past officials, at both the state and national levels. She also outlines the proper procedure for inviting a public official to attend or speak at an event—and then goes on to guide us through the event itself, describing the decorum for individual and guest speaker introductions, seating of dignitaries—and even flag etiquette.
In an easy-to-use format, Sytek includes tables of titles, sample letters and several appendices listing everything from voting districts and county officials to state senators and representatives, with names, addresses and phone numbers. Not only does Further Ado make interesting reading, it can also be an invaluable reference work to have at hand in home or office.
The book may be found at leading bookstores in the area or ordered from www.plaidswede.com of Concord, NH.
