Manchester, Nashua Bar Pay Tribute to Judge, Attorney

The Hon. Walter L. Murphy was presented the Manchester Bar Association's 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award by his friend and colleague the Hon. James J. Barry.THE MANCHESTER AND Nashua Bar Associations recently joined forces to honor two men whose personal and professional accomplishments are a tribute to themselves and the communities they serve. During a joint awards dinner held at the Bedford Village Inn last month, the Hon. Walter Murphy was presented the Manchester Bar's 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award, and John V. Dwyer Jr., an attorney with Winer & Bennett in Nashua, received the Nashua Bar's Ted Jordan Humanitarian Award.

Hosts for the dinner were Victor W. Dahar Jr., of Dahar Professional Associates and president of the Manchester Bar, and Kris E. Durmer, of Smith-Weiss, Shepard & Durmer and president of the Nashua Bar.
The Ted Jordan Humanitarian Award was named after Edward A. Jordan Sr., a compassionate Nashua attorney who died in 2002. "I knew Ted and he was a truly wonderful, wonderful person and I am moved to receive this award in his honor," says Dwyer.
Recently retired Superior Court Judge Walter L. Murphy was presented the Manchester Bar's 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award by his friend and colleague the Hon. James J. Barry Jr. Murphy delighted the assembled Bar members with heartfelt and witty anecdotes about himself and his distinguished legal career. He even sang a little. He concluded his award acceptance with: "There wasn't a day that went by that I didn't have pride in the court and in the professionalism and civility of my colleagues."
