Triathlete Judge Creates Poster for Olympics
THE HON. MICHAEL JONES, the Salem District Court judge and an elite triathlete, created this 18-by-24-inch poster for the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Triathlon, the national governing body for the sport.
Jones, who at 22 trained with Olympic gold-medalist Mark Spitz in 1972 but missed making the U.S. Olympic swim team, spent years developing and producing this painting. It reflects the running, biking, and swimming events that make up the triathlon competition and the spirit of Athens, Greece, birthplace of the Olympics and the site of the 2004 Summer Games in August.
One thousand prints of the U.S. Olympic Committee-approved posters will be displayed in Olympic training centers and visitor centers, and in sports-related museums.
