Bar News - June 4, 2004 2004 Honor Roll ~ A Lawyer & Judge in Every School THE NH BAR ASSOCIATION’S Law-Related Education Program thanks the following attorneys and judges who worked with or informed the NH Bar of their school visits as part of "A Lawyer and Judge in Every School" (ALIES), an annual volunteer program that brings lawyers and judges into the classroom to broaden students’ understanding of the legal system. Most of the school visits took place throughout the month of May in recognition of Law Day, May 7. This year, this program touched nearly 8,500 students. The NHBA would also like to thank the many attorneys not listed who worked with school officials to coordinate visits on their own for ALIES. The following list only includes those who informed the Bar of their school visits. The many others who made their own arrangements are encouraged to notify the Bar of their participation and their names will be noted in a later issue. Each attorney and judge is listed by the county in which his or her practice is located.
Superior Court Justice Larry M. Smukler, of Belknap County, answers questions from 4th- and 5th-graders at the Pleasant Street School in Laconia in May. Justice Smukler has spoken to children at the school as a participant in the A Lawyer and Judge in Every School program for the past five years and explains that he has adjusted his presentation over the years to allow the students more time to ask him questions.
