Hon. Margaret Q. Flynn

The Hon. Margaret (Quill) Flynn, 81, retired NH Superior Court Associate Justice, of 9 Anders Lane, Nashua, died unexpectedly Saturday May 15, 2004, at St Joseph Hospital in Nashua.

Judge Flynn was born July 9, 1922, in Stoughton, Mass., daughter of the late John and Bridget Agnes (Crimmins) Quill. She lived in Nashua since 1950, moving from Stoughton.

She was the widow of the late N.H. Superior Court Associate Justice Charles J. Flynn, who died in 1996.

Judge Flynn was involved in numerous civic organizations, including 15 years of service on the Nashua Board of Education the NH School Board Association, the Rivier College Advisory Board, the NH Higher Education and Health Facilities Authority, Meals on Wheels, St. Joseph Community Services, the Greater Nashua Charitable Foundation, and the board of Marguerite’s Place.

Also, she was a delegate to 1974 and 1984 Constitutional Conventions and vice chair of the Judiciary Committee at the 1974 convention.

Judge Flynn enjoyed reading, classical music and travel, and had been a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Nashua since 1950.

Judge Flynn was a graduate of Boston University with an A.B., with honors, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She also graduated from Boston University School of Law with a J.D., magna cum laude. While there, she served as editor of The Boston University Law _Review. She also received an honorary degree, doctor of _humanitarian services, from Rivier College in 1981.

She was predeceased by three brothers, John Quill, Joseph Quill and Francis Quill.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, attorney Katherine E. Flynn of Newton, Mass., and Margaret C. Flynn, M.D., and her husband, Ken Chung, of Arlington, Mass.; two grandchildren, Sonya F. Chung and Clara F. Chung, both of Arlington, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Nuala Quill of Manalapan, N.J., and Doris Quill of Raynham, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

In memory of our colleague, the Honorable Margaret Q. Flynn., the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Board of Governors has contributed to the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, 112 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301.
