Ruth Houtte Takes Helm of Greenbook Project
RUTH HOUTTE, a 17-year veteran of the Mass. Dept. of Social Services, is the new director of the Greenbook Project, a federal initiative designed to bring together the court system, child protective services and domestic violence agencies in addressing the needs of families experiencing both domestic violence and child abuse/neglect.
According to the organization, in her former position, Houtte developed and supervised the Domestic Violence Unit of the Lowell office. During recent years, she has also helped develop a Domestic Violence Resource Center with the Lowell Police Department, has taken part in the development of a substance abuse manual for the use of both DSS staff and for shelters serving battered women with substance abuse issues.
"I am honored and pleased to join Greenbook," stated Houtte in Greenbook’s summer newsletter. "This is important, cutting edge work. I’m looking forward to being a part of it."
Houtte replaces Gina Apicelli, recently named Family Division administrator for the state.
