Runners Race to Help Finance Public Interest Law Students
During Franklin Pierce Law Center's Fun Run for Justice last month, Eileen Phinney, widow of late Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green partner Bill Phinney, donated $1,000 toward the school's Loan Repayment Assistance Fund, which is supported by the Phinney Fund. Chuck Temple, director of the Criminal Practice Clinic, and Brigette Holmes, director of the Social Justice Institute accepted the gift on the school's behalf.
Ninety-three hardy runners and walkers, representing the NH legal community, braved a torrential rainstorm to race through the streets of Concord during Franklin Pierce Law Center's first Fun Run for Justice in September. The participants, and an additional 37 registrants that did not run or walk, raised enough money to fund one FPLC student's $3,500 Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) stipend.
The 5K race was organized as a fundraiser for the Phinney Fund, begun in honor of late Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green partner Bill Phinney by his wife, Eileen Phinney. The fund financially supports the LRAP, which provides financial assistance to FPLC graduates who choose a career in public interest law.
MVHS cross-country coach David Irving, of Salisbury, was the first-place finisher. For a link to the rest of the results, go to http://www.piercelaw.edu/socjustice/FunRun.htm.
