Changes at the Helm of Bar Web Site
Audrey Carrel, previously special projects coordinator and Casemaker liaison for the Bar, assumed the duties of Web site coordinator, effective Jan. 1, 2005. Carrel, who has worked in member services for the Bar for the past two years, replaces Lynette Gorman, who has been the Web site coordinator since 2001.
Gorman's tenure at the Bar included receipt of the national Luminary Award for best Web site (in medium-size Bar category) by the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section in 2003.
For the past month, Gorman has been collaborating with Carrel on preparing the Web site for an update to a more modern, search-friendly, administrative platform in consultation with the Web site design and hosting firm, Silver Technology of Manchester. The design of the new Web site is more streamlined with better navigation and search capabilities. The new site also will be easier to administer and update.
Gorman, who has worked at the Bar invarious capacities -including support roles for the Law-Related Education Program, NHBA•CLE and the NHMCLE office since 1999, has accepted a position as an executive assistant at the Concord law firm of Hebert & Uchida. Gorman's knowledge of the Bar will likely be of assistance to attorney Richard Uchida, who will be taking over as NHBA President at the close of the 2005 Annual Meeting in June.
"Lynette's ingenuity, tenacity and technical talent will be sorely missed -as will her encyclopedic knowledge of the Bar," said Dan Wise, communications director. "The Web site is a crucial part of the Bar's interface with members and the world and Lynette has made sure it has always been a credit to our Association." Gorman took over as Web site coordinator after working with Lee Jones, the Assistant to the NHMCLE Board, who launched the Bar's Web site. In her special projects position, Carrel worked on PowerPoint and multimedia presentations for Bar outreach programs, anddesigned a number of publications and advertisements for the member services department. She also has handled, and will continue to handle liaison duties for the online Casemaker New Hampshire law library.
"Audrey brings technical knowledge and design talents to the position," said Wise. "And she shares with Lynette the ingenuity and sense of adventurousness that is needed in the ever-changing electronic media environment."
Carrel, currently a candidate for an MBA at Southern New Hampshire University, is studying marketing and information technology in particular. Carrel graduated with a degree in business from Keene State College. She is a Concord resident, and the daughter of Manchester attorney Earl Carrel.
Before coming to the Bar Association, Carrel was the Membership Services Coordinator for the NH Historical Society. She also worked several years on a part-time basis in her father's law office. "I did a little bit of everything there," she says, "including designing user manuals for various programs and learning more about computer programs. I've also built lots of databases."
Carrel, her daughter Emma and their Brittany Spaniel Driggs enjoy hiking the trails in the foothills of New Hampshire. "Emma can only manage about three miles, but that's pretty good for a seven-year-old," smiles Carrel.
Carrel has been interested in art and design for many years, having minored in Fine Arts while at Keene State. She is at present converting her basement into a darkroom so that she can develop her own photographs. In addition to photography, Audrey enjoys reading and kayaking-and hiking with Emma and Driggs. "Right now, Emma is my life," she says. "But I like working at the Bar, too!"
