Susan Marshall Writes History of State Constitution

Attorney Susan Marshall of Hopkinton, a member of the Bar since 1980, has written a book entitled The New Hampshire State Constitution, A Reference Guide. The book shows the development of the nation's first written state constitution, dating from 1776. The original constitution was replaced by a 1784 document, but after 144 amendments over 200 years, the present constitution retains the same basic form of government as in the beginning and many of the articles in its original Bill of Rights.

The book offers a historical overview and contains general constitutional history and an article-by-article commentary, including discussion of important legal cases. It may be ordered from Greenwood Press, Web site: www.greenwood.com.

The Bar News will publish a review of this book in a future issue.
