In Memoriam ~ Dorothy F. Silver
Dorothy (Fritz) Silver, 73, died January 18, 2005 in Manchester after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Attorney Silver attended both Smith and Wellesley colleges and graduated from Harvard University. She received a master's degree in education from Boston University and taught for five years at Chelmsford (Mass.) High School. In 1979, she earned a law degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center and subsequently became a member of both the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
She then opened a law practice in Manchester, NH, specializing in family law. Attorney Silver won three cases before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and had a fourth pending at the time of her death. She served on the NH Commission on Discrimination Against Women and was a member of the NH Real Estate Commission.
Dorothy enjoyed sailing, music, theater and travel. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun. Surviving members of her family include her husband of 54 years, Bertram R. Silver of Bedford, three sons, Andrew, Douglas and Jonathan; a daughter, Susan Silver Farley; five grandchildren; two brothers and a sister.
