A Classic Afternoon For Pro Bono Golf
Good Company gathered for a good cause, sunny skies, mild temperatures and low scores highlighted the annual Quid Pro Bono Golf Tournament held June 7 at the Lake Sunapee Country Club.
This year, a team of sharpshooters from the Lakes Region carded the winning score of 63 ("best ball" on each hole). The team included A. Gerard O’Neil, Jr., Edward B. Mulligan IV, Ken Nielsen and Marital Master Michael Garner. Three teams carded 65s. Decided by tiebreaker, the second place team was an Upper Valley foursome including Superior Court Judge Robert Morrill, Arthur Adams, Peter Decato and Thomas Kraeger, while third place was claimed by the Manchester-area team of Peter Hutchins, Nicholas Brown, Jeremy Walker and John Kenison.
The lowest-scoring mixed team (carding a 66) included attorneys Martin Glennon and Charla Labbe with clients Warren Cass and Elise Thornton. As usual, the highest score (intentionally omitted) was a team effort of attorneys Kenneth Barnes, Patti Blanchette, Marilyn McNamara and former NHBA staffer Frank Lossani.
Closest to the Pin winners were Ken Nielsen and Faye Melendy and longest drivers were Michael Ruedig and Shari Jankowski.
The major winners, of course, are the clients served by volunteer attorneys recruited and assisted by the Pro Bono Referral Program. According to Ginny Martin, the Bar’s associate executive director for legal services, entry fees and sponsorships raised several thousand dollars to benefit Pro Bono. (A complete list thanking all sponsors will appear in a future issue of Bar News.)
