In Memoriam: Wesley Whitney, 78, Dies in Colorado
Wesley Eames Whitney died in Westminster, Colorado on January 25th. A graduate of Cornell Law School, Whitney became a member of the NH Bar Association in 1952. He was a long-time resident of Andover, NH, and deeply involved in both the spiritual and secular life of his community. An active member of South Church and a leader in many areas, including chairman of the board of trustees, he also served on the Town of Andover Zoning Board of Appeals for 16 years, eight as chairman.
Whitney became interested in corporate law early in his career and joined General Electric after a short time of practicing in Concord and Manchester. With General Electric, he traveled extensively, working in both Wilmington and Fitchburg, Mass., and in Syracuse, New York. He remained with General Electric until his retirement.
A man of gentle humor and sound advice, Whitney's counsel was often sought by both business associates and friends. His wisdom and kindness will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois-Ann Whitney, a son and daughter-in law, James and Barbara Whitney of Alaska, a daughter, Carolee Burnell, of Colorado, two grandchildren, and a brother, David.
