Law Firms Support Benefit Ski Race
On March 12, 2005 the New England Handicapped Sports Association held its 19th Annual Corporate Ski Challenge at the Mt. Sunapee Resort in Sunapee. NEHSA is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to provide adaptive recreational activities to the disabled community. The event raised $10,000.
In 2000, the NEHSA Corporate Challenge was renamed the Ted Jordan Memorial Race in memory of Nashua attorney Ted Jordan, a long-time supporter of NEHSA who had succumbed to cancer. Since that time, the participation of the New Hampshire legal community has grown to the point where 60 percent of the participants in this year's race were lawyers, judges or members of law-related teams.
A Legal Division was established in 2002 to recognize the participation of the legal profession. This year's legal division skiers included teams from the Nashua, Manchester and Merrimack Bar Associations; The Law Office of Jordan, Maynard and Parodi; Abramson, Brown and Dugan; Barker and Goldsmith; Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green; Law Office of Paul S. Moore, P.L.L.C.; Hall and Stewart P.A.; William R. Joyal; and teams representing members of the NH Superior Court and the District Court.
Abramson, Brown and Dugan's team (anchored by Ken the "Dominator" Brown) took First Place in the Legal Division and in Overall with a time of 63.19. The New Hampshire District Court Judges Team (headed by Peter "Bode" Hurd) came in Second Place and bested the Superior Court Judges' team with a time of 74.11.
The funds will be used to provide scholarships to disabled children and their families to help them participate in recreational activities and to support NEHSA's outreach to the disabled throughout New England.
NEHSA also honored Ken Brown and Bob Parodi for their continued enthusiasm and support of the organization and named them honorary co-chairs of the event. If you have any questions regarding participating in the event next year, call Ken Brown (603-627-1810) or Bob Parodi (603-881-5800).
