Documentary Series Features the Wrongfully Accused
The advocacy organization, Justice On Trial, is actively seeking cases for those wrongfully accused to feature on its Web site and in its planned television series. Production of the series is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2005. Each episode will feature a case of someone who has been wrongly charged or convicted.
Justice On Trial is dedicated to assisting the wrongfully accused by presenting exculpatory evidence to the public and assisting in defense. The non-profit company has operated a Web site at www.JusticeOnTrial.org since 2002. Last year the company was instrumental in the successful dismissal of double murder charges against defendant Michael Goodwin of Orange County, California. Jeffrey Friedman, foremost Southern California attorney on writs and motions, was retained through the efforts of the group. He argued before a three-judge panel of California's 4th District Court of Appeal; he said that the officials in Orange County had no evidence of jurisdiction to have charged Goodwin. The court unanimously agreed and ordered Goodwin released, after 30 months of imprisonment. This case will be the subject of the first episode.
Each program in the series will include dramatic re-enactments of events, interviews with investigators, prosecutors, witnesses, family and friends of defendants and victims. Cases of exoneration through the efforts of other organizations will be considered, too.
Justice On Trial is linked to many other "Innocence Advocacy" organizations throughout the U.S. and offers reciprocal exposure for such organizations. Visit the Web site or call (530) 268-9277 for further information.
