Jack Lightfoot Receives Child Advocacy Award
Jack Lightfoot of Goffstown, Program Director of Advocacies for Child and Family Services of New Hampshire, received a 2005 Children's Alliance Award on April 12 for his efforts on behalf of children and families throughout New Hampshire.
At a celebration hosted by WMUR-TV reporter Kevin Flynn at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, Dr. Susan Lynch, first lady of New Hampshire, recognized exemplary child advocates, Lightfoot among them.
Lightfoot, admitted to the Bar in 1974, received the "Strong Families" award, acknowledging his work with Child and Family Services, where he has spent more than 30 years advocating on behalf of New Hampshire's children and families. In particular, he was praised for his efforts to reform the state's child abuse and neglect laws and for uniting childcare providers, parents, advocates and legislators to support quality childcare and early education.
"Jack Lightfoot is a tireless voice for New Hampshire's children and families," said Children's Alliance NH president Ellen Shemitz. "As an advocate before the legislature, in the courts and in the public policy arena, he has been instrumental in virtually every major legislative accomplishment to benefit New Hampshire children and families for the past 30 years."
Childrens Alliance also presented awards this year to: Wendy Gladstone, MD, of Exeter Pediatrics Associates; Karen Turner of Newmarket; and Silas Paul Archambault of Seacoast Outright.
