Honoring a Year of Progress for the Bar Foundation
NHBF Events at Feb. 13 Midyear Meeting
THE NEW HAMPSHIRE Bar Foundation will celebrate the Foundation's supporters and friends at its annual Fellows Reception, to be held Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at the Wayfarer Inn, Bedford, including honoring W. John Funk as the 2004 Honorary Foundation Fellow. The reception will begin at 5 p.m., in conjunction with the NH Bar Association's Midyear Membership Meeting.
Bar Foundation donors, board members and special friends are also invited to the Past Chairs program preceding the Fellows Reception, an event hosted by past chairs of the Foundation at which attendees can meet the new Bar Foundation executive director, David Snyder, and discuss the future of the Foundation.
These events allow the Bar Foundation to thank its supporters and give them an update on the impact their contributions have made throughout New Hampshire over the past year. Without donors' support of the IOLTA Program, the Members and Fellows Program, the Campaign for Legal Services, and the Foundation's endowed funds, the Bar Foundation could not exist. This past year, the Bar Foundation granted over $1.5 million to legal service and law-related education programs in our state. Thousands of individuals have been able to access the state's justice system who could otherwise not have afforded to do so.
Over the past several years, the Bar Foundation has significantly increased its efforts to raise funds to support many organizations in NH that provide access to justice. With the launching of the Justice Society, the Bar Foundation established an endowment to assist with stabilizing legal services funding for generations to come. Changes in the Members and Fellows Program over the past three years have expanded the opportunity for NH attorneys and friends of the legal community to support the mission and programs of the Bar Foundation. The Foundation's Campaign for Legal Services, a joint campaign with New Hampshire's three statewide legal service organizations - NH Legal Assistance, the Bar Association's Pro Bono Program, and the Legal Advice and Referral Center - has focused fundraising energy and efforts, producing far greater results for these organizations than could have been achieved individually. This past year, the Campaign exceeded expectations by raising gifts and pledges totaling over $750,000.
All of these efforts are possible because of the generosity and backing of supporters of the NH Bar Foundation. As members of the legal community, attorneys understand the demands of their profession, the challenges individuals face when attempting to access justice, and the benefits of having access to a lawyer.
In 2004, the Bar Foundation will focus on concluding the Campaign for Legal Services and transitioning it into an annual donor campaign to support NHLA, Pro Bono and LARC. The Foundation will work to strengthen and grow its endowment to ensure its ability to fund access to the justice system for future generations.
The Bar Foundation will also continue to build relationships with the banking community to ensure a strong IOLTA program, and will strive to increase the number of Fellows and Members by asking for your financial support.
Thank you for your support and contributions to the NH Bar Foundation. We look forward to celebrating the NH legal community's dedication to the Foundation at our upcoming events on Feb. 13.
