Berlin Attorney Named Coos County Clerk
DAVID P. CARLSON, previously a partner in the Berlin law firm Bergeron, Hanson Bornstein and Carlson, has been named the new clerk of Coos County Superior Court. He began his new duties on June 25.
Carlson replaced clerk Barbara A. Hogan, who was appointed the new clerk of Cheshire County Superior Court to replace the recently retired clerk of that court, Stillman D. Rogers.
Carlson is a 1983 graduate of Franklin Pierce Law Center and was admitted to the NH Bar the same year. From 1984 to 1991, he worked in the Gorham law office of attorney Thomas J. Cote. In 1991 he joined the Bergeron law firm in Berlin, where he became partner in 1996. He was a partner with the firm until being appointed Superior Court clerk. Carlson’s general practice focused primarily on real estate and banking law.
Carlson sought the position of court clerk because he was looking for a change and more regular working hours. "I think it’ll be challenging, something completely different for me," Carlson said in an interview before taking office as clerk. "Right now about 10 percent of my work is administrative, 90 percent of it is law, but I expect that in the clerk’s position that will be reversed," he said.
"It’ll be a challenge and I think I’ll enjoy it," Carlson said.
