Corrections
On page one of the July 8 Bar News, it was incorrectly reported (in the headline and in the article) that the legislature had passed HB 468, a bill creating a “permissible contact” section for the domestic violence protective order statute. The bill would have provided a “remedy” for the Kidder decision by permitting attorneys representing a defendant in a domestic violence case to contact the subject of the protective order in that case. Both the NH House and the Senate had passed versions of the bill but, in the waning days of the session, negotiators from the two chambers were unable to agree on a single version and the measure died. Senate Judiciary Chair Joseph Foster said support for the bill is strong and he expects that language acceptable to both chambers will be introduced this fall.
In the Spring issue of the Bar Journal, Gender Equality Committee member Kimberly J. H. Memmesheimer’s name was misspelled. Memmesheimer practices with the law firm of J. Kirk Trombley, P.A. in Barrington.
Due to a clerical error, Michael Beland was incorrectly listed as suspended for nonpayment of dues in the Membership Status Changes list published in the July 8 Bar News. Beland was never suspended. The Bar Association apologizes for the inconvenience this may have caused.
