Casemaker Cited in Poll of ‘Favorite Research Tools’

Casemaker gaining recognition on the national scene.

The NH Bar Association’s online legal library, Casemaker New Hampshire, is actually part of a larger library of state and federal case law, supported by bar associations across the country. Casemaker is offered at no cost to members through the For Members area of www.nhbar.org.

In June, TechnoLawyer, a technology product review Web site and blog for lawyers, announced that Casemaker was one of three finalists in a poll of their members in the category of "Favorite Legal Research Tool."  The other two were Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw, both national, for-profit providers available in all 50 states.

Remarkably, Casemaker, at the time of the voting, was only up and running in 18 states, whereas Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw, with comprehensive libraries, were in all 50 states.  For the complete survey results use this address: http://blog.technolawyer.com/2005/06/2005_technolawy.html.

Product enhancement: Casemaker recently enhanced its offerings by providing a link to a combined state supreme court library offering the current year’s cases from the consortium states (with some additional states’ cases available as well.) The state supreme court library can be searched by accessing "Nationwide Collections" and clicking on "Combined State Cases."

The library features NH case law dating back to 1872, along with

• Statutes & Session Laws; the Code of Administrative Rules, Court Rules

• NH Federal Rules.

Also available is the case law from 20 other states (including all of New England) and the Federal Library.

Casemaker is easily searchable and case law is updated weekly. To find out more, visit the NHBA Web site at www.nhbar.org, log-in and click on the Casemaker logo.

For log-in information or questions about Casemaker, please contact Audrey Carrel, Casemaker Liaison, at (603) 224-6942 or acarrel@nhbar.org.

There are no hidden costs associated with Casemaker. The NHBA provides this service to members at no additional charge. New Hampshire Materials on Casemaker.
