Guidance for Attorneys Representing DV Victims
An article provided in recent training materials for DOVE attorneys (updated as of 2003) is often requested for reprint and will be made available at www.nhbar.org.
The article, “DOVE Representation and RSA 173-B: A Closer Look at Protection From Abuse Orders Under RSA 173-B and Civil Restraining Orders Under RSA 458” was written by the Hon. Susan B. Carbon and attorney Elizabeth Paine. It explains the potential problems in seeking relief from domestic violence by seeking a restraining order under the domestic relations statute (RSA 458), as opposed to protection orders sought under RSA 173-B.
