In Memoriam
 J. Christopher McGuirk
J. Christopher McGuirk, 60, of Newmarket, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in Exeter Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1945, in Massillon, Ohio, the son of Justin V. McGuirk of Raymond and the late Blanche (Tangen) McGuirk. He was a graduate of Thayer Academy in Massachusetts, the University of Vermont and Boston College Law School and had resided in Newmarket for many years.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, McGuirk held the rank of captain. He was a member of the Ancient Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing the bagpipes, collecting toy soldiers and traveling, and was a very knowledgeable Civil War historian.
Attorney McGuirk joined the NH Bar in 1969 and began practicing law with his uncle at Flynn, Powell & McGuirk. He went on to open his own firm in Newmarket, where he practiced for many years. After he became semi-retired, he worked for Lucas and Associates in Portsmouth.
McGuirk is survived by his father; his wife of 28 years, Joann (Fernald) McGuirk of Newmarket; three sons, SFC. J. Christopher McGuirk Jr. and Sgt. Gregory J. McGuirk, who are both stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, and Richard C.F. McGuirk of Newmarket; two grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Norton of Florida and Justine Lambroschino of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
