Chris Crane | New Web Site Coordinator Christine (Chris) Crane wants to make the NHBA Web site an even better resource for Bar members than it already is. “I would like to make it easier to navigate, so that it becomes an almost intuitive process for members,” she told Bar News. “I’d like to make it more convenient for the public to access information about the Bar’s services, too,” she said.
Crane takes over shortly after a new Web site platform has been launched. The new site features a search engine and capability for more streamlined e-commerce, as well as greater security and ease of administration. The NHBA is continuing to review the site to consider improvements in navigation and adding other capabilities.
Crane has been a full-time temporary employee of the Bar Association since January, filling in as Sections Coordinator and CLE support person. When the position of Web Site Coordinator opened recently, Crane, who has always been adept at computer technology and holds a Web Master certificate, decided to throw her hat into the ring.
“Chris is very organized and detail-oriented, with a calm, common-sense approach to solving problems and working with people,” said Communications Director Dan Wise. “She was a perfect fit for the job and we are fortunate to have someone of her caliber to fill this critical position.”
“I’ve done a lot of trouble-shooting and computer support wherever I’ve worked—it just seems to come naturally to me,” Crane said. “I’ve instructed lots of people in how to use new computer programs and utilize the Internet as a resource, too,” she said.
Although always interested in the arts, Crane earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at SUNY, Oneonta (New York) and thought she might go into teaching. However, after graduation, while pondering what to do next, she took a position at Polyclad Laminates in Franklin and gained valuable experience in transactional projects, sharpening her computer skills along the way.
She decided to take the Web Master course offered by Walden Institute; it combined her artistic design and analytical abilities and her interest in the ever-expanding cyber universe. Along the way, she became a project manager and improvement specialist in transactional processes at Polyclad. But Chris likes a challenge and her new position presents her with that every day.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Crane said her parents (her dad worked on the Valdez pipeline), always encouraged her to try different things. One of her hobbies is photography; she also plays tennis—and hikes with her dog Slinky, a Newfoundland mix.
Members may contact Crane at ccrane@nhbar.org for Web site assistance—or call her at 603/224-6942. Inquiries to nhbainfo@nhbar.org also are responded to promptly.
