Awards Presented at Paralegals’ Annual Meeting
On Sept. 16 at the annual meeting of the Paralegal Association of New Hampshire, Deborah Snow received the NHBA Paralegal Professionalism Award, presented by NHBA President Richard Y. Uchida.
PANH presented its own Attorney of the Year award to Concord attorney Graham P. Chynoweth.
Snow, who has worked for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New England for over 25 years, was cited as a role model for paralegals. Quoting from her nomination by leaders in the company, Uchida said, “Through the quality of her work and the application of her intellect and specialized skill, Debbie demonstrates the value of paralegals in the legal community on a daily basis.”
Snow was also described as “a model of competence, integrity and professionalism” and cited for her exceptional research abilities: “…we often ask Debbie where to look for the answer before consulting the RSA index—and more often than not she is quicker and more precise than the index,” said her employers. Acting as the lead paralegal for Anthem’s Northeast Region, she has also led paralegal conference calls in which the paralegals discuss their roles and determine ways in which they can be more effective within the company.
Snow currently serves on the Board of Directors for PANH and is chair of the Membership Committee. Through her work, she is able to share her skills and dedication with the broader paralegal community.
Uchida presented the award on behalf of Immediate Past President Jim Gleason, as the selection was made during Gleason’s presidency.
Attorney Chynoweth’s Nomination
Graham P. Chynoweth was nominated as Attorney of the Year by members of his staff at Chynoweth Legal Services, of Concord. April Merchant, office manager and paralegal, wrote the nomination letter. “I can tell you that Graham didn’t know he was getting the award,” said Shannon Bloxam, Administrative Assistant to Chynoweth. We wanted the award to be a surprise, so April told Graham I was getting an award and they wanted him to present it.”
Chynoweth was very surprised. “April wrote a beautiful letter,” said Bloxam. “Graham has been the best person…that either of us has ever worked for…. He has been through a lot this year himself and we greatly appreciates all he does for us.”
