Attorneys Urged to Attend Focus Groups on Status of the Profession
The NH Supreme Court’s Task Force on the Status of the Legal Profession is staging a series of focus groups this month to solicit Bar members’ input on conditions in the legal profession and how they can be improved.
The group, chaired by retired NH Supreme Court Justice William Batchelder and Pierce Law Dean John Hutson, hopes to make recommendations for the courts and the legal community on measures to improve the legal system that would directly affect lawyers, and, ultimately, could improve access to the justice system for all. The task force’s formation was announced by Chief Justice John T. Broderick, Jr., at last year’s Midyear Meeting.
These focus groups have been organized to attract practitioners from specific geographic or practice areas; letters of invitation are being mailed to a sampling of Bar members in these areas. However, any attorney may attend any session that is most convenient for them. All of the sessions take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
At least two additional sessions, focusing on issues of interest to family law practitioners and attorneys engaged in general civil practice/transactional law, are being scheduled.
