NH Supreme Court To Broadcast Oral Arguments Live on Internet
Starting Oct 19, practitioners and other interested persons may view or listen to oral argument at the NH Supreme Court live through streaming video/audio on the court’s Web site, the Judicial Branch has announced.
“Beginning this session, the Supreme Court will broadcast oral arguments, in all except confidential cases, on the judicial branch Web site,” wrote Supreme Court Clerk Eileen Fox in a letter to practitioners presenting cases in October and November.
“This development will allow anyone interested in a case who has internet access to watch or listen to Supreme Court oral argument from another location as it is taking place,” wrote Fox. “After oral argument is completed, video and audio recordings of the argument will be archived on the judicial branch Web site and will be available to be replayed at a later time.”
Anyone interested in watching or listening to oral argument should go to the Supreme Court page of the judicial branch Web site (www.courts.state.nh.us/supreme), and click on Oral Argument in the listing on the left side.
“The court hopes that availability of oral argument will allow citizens to observe and better understand the operation of the Supreme Court in particular and the judicial branch in general,” Fox wrote.
“This technology also offers exciting educational opportunities for teachers and students to study New Hampshire government and the judicial process.”
