Foundation Co-sponsors King Lecture Series
Congressman Tom Lantos delivered the John W. King Lecture at NH Supreme Court on October 24 to an audience of 120 political leaders, legal professionals, human rights advocates, and community members. Lantos is the co-chairman of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus. Justices Broderick and Nadeau, and Paul Chant, chair of the Bar Foundation, made opening remarks. The Supreme Court Justices were in attendance along with Dick Swett and his wife, Katrina, Lantos’ daughter. The series was established by the Supreme Court as a forum to discuss contemporary legal topics and is co-sponsored by the NH Bar Foundation’s Advancement of Justice and Richard P. Dunfey Funds.
Born in Budapest, Lantos was 16 years old when Germany occupied Hungary. Lantos’ lecture, “Human Rights: America’s Legacy in International Relations” highlighted the importance of unrelenting discourse with world leaders regarding their human rights records.
