Vol. 151 of New Hampshire Reports contains several articles dedicated to the career of Chief Justice David A. Brock, who retired at age 67 in December 2003 after 25 years as a judge, the last 17 heading the NH Supreme Court.
At a reception for Supreme Court staff last month, NH Chief Justice John T. Broderick, Jr., presented his predecessor with the volume, which contains a personal tribute to Brock by his former law partner and longtime friend, Superior Court Associate Justice Harold Perkins, and a discussion of Brock’s contributions to NH jurisprudence by his court colleague, retired Associate Justice William Batchelder. The volume also contains remarks by Justice Broderick at the 2004 Midyear Meeting.
At the reception, Broderick described how his respect grew for Chief Justice Brock during the years he spent on the bench with him. Frasier recalled the “judicial courage” his friend showed on the bench the first time he had a case before him.
Brock, accompanied by his wife Sandy, said he was enjoying retirement including spending time with his family, which now includes 13 grandchildren.
