Jeffrey L. Hirsch Elected
to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers

The law firm of Robinson & Cole is pleased to announce that Jeffrey L. Hirsch, co-chair of the firm’s Labor, Employment, and Benefits Section, was elected a Fellow in The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Mr. Hirsch was inducted into the College on August 7, 2005 at the College’s Annual Meeting, which was held in Chicago, Illinois. The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers is a non-profit professional association honoring the leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of labor and employment law. Membership to the College is by invitation only. Attorney Hirsch has been a member of the NH Bar since 2004.

Stacey Takes Helm of County Organization

Cathy Ann Stacey, Rockingham County’s Register of Deeds, was elected President of the New Hampshire Association of Counties during the Association’s annual meeting on October 5, 2005. Stacey, who has been Register of Deeds since 1994, has served on the county government organization’s board since 1997 and will serve as the Association President until October 2007. Attorney Stacey has been a member of the NH Bar since 2005.


Judge Michael E. Jones Wins Triathlon

Judge Michael E. Jones (Salem District Court) led a delegation of 50 Team USA athletes to the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Aqualon (run-swim-run) Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii. Competing in the Master’s category, Jones became the first athlete ever to win three world championships in this running and swimming event. He completed the 1.6 mile run, one-half mile ocean swim and 1.7 mile run in 37:13 and defeated his nearest competitor from New Zealand by 30 seconds. Overall, more than 300 athletes from 30 countries participated. Judge Jones has been a member of the NH Bar since 1978.

Sheila Christie Appointed to Board of Accountancy

New Hampshire Governor John Lynch appointed Pierce Atwood attorney Sheila Christie to the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy for a five-year term. The board seeks to promote the reliability of information that is used for guidance in financial transactions, or for accounting or for assessing the financial status or performance of commercial, non-commercial and governmental enterprises. Ms. Christie is a partner at Pierce Atwood as well as the leader of the firm’s Trusts & Estates practice group. She has been a member of the NH Bar since 2005.


Attorney John Daly Receives Award

John Daly received a special recognition award from the Housing Partnership for outstanding service. The Housing Partnership is a non-profit development corporation organized to provide and maintain affordable housing in New Hampshire. Daly has worked with The Housing Partnership for 12 years, providing counsel regarding the purchase and tax-credit financing of affordable housing projects. At Pierce Atwood in Portsmouth, where he is a partner, Mr. Daly focuses his practice on real estate and general business law. He has been a member of the NH Bar since 1980.

David Gottesman Recognized by Trial Lawyers

David Gottesman, one of the founding partners of the Nashua law firm Gottesman & Hollis, P.A., recently attained recognition as a “Fellow” by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) – an honor achieved only by a small number of attorneys nationwide. The designation is granted to those who have completed at least 200 hours of ATLA continuing legal education courses since 1990. “The Fellow designation signifies Attorney Gottesman’s commitment to effective representation of his clients through professional development,” said Anji Jesseramsing, director for ATLA Education. Gottesman has been a member of the NH Bar since 1973.
