Reception Welcomes New Members

Members of the legal community met at Franklin Pierce Law Center to welcome attorneys sworn into the NH Bar during the past year.  Supreme Court Justice James Duggan, Superior Court Judge Carol Ann Conboy, Bar Association president Richard Uchida and a number of representatives of the Board of Governors joined Bar Association staff to give the new members a taste of the congeniality of Bar membership.

Michael Zaino (10/05), Colleen Karpinsky (10/04) and Steve Dutton (10/05) chat at the New Lawyers reception at Franklin Pierce Law Center.

Jaye Rancourt, chair of the New Lawyers’ Committee, which hosted the Nov. 16 event, emphasized the services provided by the Association and the Committee, such as the Member Resource Guide, the manual “Traps for the Unwary,” the Casemaker guidebook and the mentoring program, through which new members are linked with more experienced members for networking, practice advice, and fellowship.

Rancourt introduced Superior Court Associate Justice Carol Ann Conboy, who spoke briefly about the importance of integrity.  “Your reputation is your most important asset; guard it carefully,” Judge Conboy told the group.  She also praised the Association and the opportunities it offers and expressed her hope that the new attorneys would find enjoyment and satisfaction in their chosen profession.

Richard Uchida, NHBA President told the new lawyers that there are many ways to become involved in the work of the Association, and that their ideas and their input are not only encouraged but actively sought by the leadership.  “We want you to help us make the Association relevant to your needs,” he said.
