Judge Gary Hicks Nominated for Supreme Court
On Dec. 21, Gov. John Lynch nominated Superior Court Judge Gary Hicks to replace retiring Justice Joseph Nadeau on the NH Supreme Court.
Hicks, 52, practiced for 23 years at the law firm of Wiggin & Nourie before he was appointed to the Superior Court four years ago by Gov. Jeanne Shaheen. He is a Coos County native.
Hicks was Lynch’s first nomination for the state’s highest court and it was made following recommendations by the Judicial Selection Commission, a screening panel created by Executive Order to assist the governor in reviewing the qualifications of applicants for judicial positions and to avoid the appearance of political influence.
At deadline, it was not known when a public hearing and possible confirmation vote on Hicks would be held by the Executive Council.
