Bar Foundation News: NH Bar Foundation Awards Eight Justice Grants
The New Hampshire Bar Foundation recently awarded more than $19,500 in Justice grants to eight organizations. The grants, made possible through the Foundation’s endowment, were awarded to:
• The Centennial Senior Center Medicaid/Medicare Awareness Program;
• The Children’s Alliance of New Hampshire 2006 Children’s Agenda;
• City Year of New Hampshire Mock Trial Program;
• Franklin Pierce Law Center Public Interest Fellowships;
• New Hampshire Citizen’s Alliance Leadership Development Program;
• New Hampshire Legal Assistance Fair Housing Forum;
• New Hampshire Supreme Court John W. King Memorial Lecture Series;
• Strafford County Family Reception Center.
Several of the grantee organizations serve specific segments of the population that need assistance with civil legal matters and others provide law-related education. The grantees will be recognized at the Bar Foundation Fellows and Donors Reception on February 16, 2006, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Radisson Hotel/Center of New Hampshire during the Bar Association Midyear Meeting.
Justice grants support specific initiatives that may include access to justice for low-income or disadvantaged groups, public education about the law, and advancement in the administration of justice. The endowment funds used for this round of grants include the Advancement of Justice Fund, the Richard P. Dunfey Fund, Stanley M. and Thailia M. Brown Fund, Vickie Bunnell Memorial Fund, Judge Richard F. Cooper Fund, and the A. J. McDonough Family Fund.
The attorneys, judges, and others outside the legal profession who support the Bar Foundation through the Members and Fellows Program directly support the Foundation’s goal of “equal justice” for all New Hampshire residents.
